According to TechCrunch, Apple’s iPhone launch weekend in the US has easily beat the launch sales of two of the best selling consumer electronics, the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS. To put things in perspective, the iPhone broke sales of 700,000 units in its first WEEKEND in the US, easily beating the Wii’s US opening launch of 600,000 in EIGHT DAYS in all of NORTH AMERICA and the DS’s launch of 540,000 in ONE WEEK in the US. Once Apple opens the iPhone to 3rd parties (for games of course), it could potentially be the fastest selling cell phone, game console, digital camera, music player, internet device, and calculator ever made. With a 56% margin on each unit, Apple may have also “netted” the highest net profit as well.
